Former Federal Immigration Court Judge Sandy K. Hom joined Reid & Wise today. He will be in charge of immigration department of the firm and will be involved in EB-5 and other immigration-related litigation and dispute resolution. Mr. Hom served for over 25 years in the United States Immigration Court. Mr. Hom was the first Asian American appointed to the US Immigration Court on the East Coast by US Attorney General Janet Reno in April 1993.
Prior to his appointment to the Immigration bench, Mr. Hom was Senior Litigation Partner with the Firm of Hom & Hsiung, Esqs in New York City from 1985 to 1993. During that time, Mr. Hom also served as Chief Legal Counsel for Refugee and Migration Matters for the Presiding Bishop of the New York Diocese of the Episcopal Church and was Chief Legal Counsel to the Chinatown Manpower Project Inc., an NYC funded new immigrant training program.
From 1979 to 1985, Mr. Hom served as a Senior Trial Attorney for the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) in the Northeast Regional Office. Prior to EEOC, Mr. Hom served as Senior Litigation Attorney for the New York State Division of Human Rights.
Mr. Hom is admitted to practice in the State of New York, US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and in the US District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
